Ex Killswitch vocalist’s new band, “The Empire Shall Fall” release debut and free mp3

June 21, 2010

To be honest I didn’t really like them too much at first, but they’ve kind of begun to grow on me now. It’s a cool, almost dirty, rock like vibe they got going.

But anyhow, Jesse Leech of “Alive or Just Breathing” fame’s The Empire shall fall release their debut “Awaken” today. Check it out if the metalcore vibes featured above tickle your fancy.

You can also download for free their cover of At The Drive In’s “ArcArsenel” here. Also released today to celebrate the launch.

The new All Shall Perish drummer feels the same about Blast Beats as me

June 21, 2010

Without blasts you’ve just got rock…….and who likes rock?

Also glad to see him already being bullied like Chris was :D

Be seeing them twice later this year, so I guess I’ll see if he can “bring the beef”!

Spawn of Bogle Round 2: A little introduction…

March 19, 2010

Meet the second of my benevolent children, NatureBoy.

Mr Bogle

Good evening RC Readers..

Well, for a start, I’m NatureBoy (make of it what you will, I do) and I’d like to try and get this off to an average, if not mediocre, start. Avoiding echoing Ptez’s wonderfully put sentiments as much as possible, I’m quite grateful for this opportunity to offload reviews, opinions, awful, awful jokes and large dosages of sarcasm to you lovely people (and no I haven’t started with that last one yet). Anyway, I’m a delightfully miserable bastard as I’m sure you’ll come to understand, but I do intend on giving this my best shot, so no doubt I’ll be in touch soon.

Cheers
NatureBoy

Muhammed Suicmez descends from mount Olympus, sevenstring forum collectively wets itself!

March 19, 2010

In an unexpected turn of events, guitarist/singer/death metal virtuoso/German Muhammed Suicmez of Necrophagist recently appeared on the forums at sevenstring.org, to allow people to ask questions of this god amoung men. The new album still isn’t finished, and even though it’s been 4 years since he started saying this, he’s still saying “It will be out when it’s finished”, despite the fact that tech metal nerds such as myself have been collectively holding our breaths since Necrophagist’s last album, all the way back in 2004. Anyway, check it out, and find out about nerdy things like amps and pickups. Some choice quotes included:

punch-ins are ok, anyone telling you the opposite is not telling the truth or is the next paganini.”

“we want to move away from the idea of charging for knowledge”

“each song has materialized anywhere between 50% and 100%, which makes for an estimated average of 75%”

I <3 Germans…..

New Faces, Old Haters

March 19, 2010

Just a quick update to firstly say ‘dammit we haven’t posted all week’ and to assure you that there will a mass publish today so do make sure to check the ‘Recent Posts’ feed. Providing technology works the interviews with Alex Wade (of Whitechapel) and Mark Hunter (Chimaira) will be up some time this evening… watch this space. Also coming will be various reviews both live and records and probably some random shit thrown in for good measure, today shall be epic.

Now the main point of this post, that is to let you know that there will be a few new faces (well not all new to us but to you) appearing on RC, whilst the core team will still consist of myself, Eyelicker and IronEagle you will be in receipt of a welcome break (well maybe) from our general rantings and tastes so obscure that generally no one likes the band’s we do. In other words, things will actually be something nearer (though not sure how much nearer) diversity. They’ll be around soon to introduce themselves so (to avoid using the same cliché twice in one post) wait and see…

Release Reminder : Foreigner “Can’t Slow Down”

March 1, 2010

Released today – Our summary was:

All in all; a very repayable and instantly classic Foreigner album…  If you like the band, you won’t be disappointed and if you haven’t tried them, it won’t put you off and will probably make you wanna listen to more…  Think Journey and Kansa and bands like that; if that’s you (which it is me) buy it. 9/10

Foreigner Releasing New Album on March 1st!

February 6, 2010

FOREIGNER CAN’T SLOW DOWN”

Everyone knows more Foreigner than they think… classics such as “Cold As Ice”, “Waiting for a Girl Like You” and the number 1 hit “I Want to Know What Love Is” have cemented the band’s status one of the most popular rock acts ever.  Foreigner‘s mix of blustery blues and impeccably crafted pop continues to captivate generation after generation of music fans.

And after racking up 70 million album sales worldwide, they now have a brand new studio album “Can’t Slow Down” - their first for 15 years!
Can’t Slow Down’ is released 1st March on Edel’s international rock and pop label, earMUSIC. The album features 13 brand new songs and is produced by Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith/Buckcherry) and celebrated Grammy Award winning producer Mark Ronson (Amy Winehouse).

This is an album that grabs you from the outset, with straight rock opener “Can‘t Slow Down,“ which stands strong beside melodic mid-tempo songs such as “Angel Tonight“ and “Too Late“ and beautiful ballads “When It Comes To Love” (one of the strongest tracks on the album and surefire hit) to the last chord of the Ronson production “Fool For You Anyway”.

Founder member Mick Jones - lead guitars and vocals – is joined by Kelly Hansen on lead vocal (ex Hurricane); Tom Gimbel (long term touring with Aerosmith) on guitar, saxophone, flute and backing vocals; on keyboards, Michael Bluestein (Stevie Nicks, Enrique Iglesias and Anastacia); Jeff Pilson (ex Dokken, Dio and MSG) on bass; and on drums, Brian Tichy (Ozzy Osbourne, Slash‘s Snakepit, Glenn Hughes, Billy Idol).

Of the album and the line up, Mick Jones (the band’s founder and legendary songwriter/guitarist) says, “Our music has touched a lot of people worldwide.  Unwittingly, we’ve weaved into the fabric of people’s lives and this new line-up is working extremely hard to live up to the high bar that was set years ago. This is the most dynamic line-up that we’ve had since the early days.”

Available on CD, “Can’t Slow Down” is also available as part of a 2CD/1DVD set (Disc 1: Can’t Slow Down Studio Album, Disc 2: Foreigner Live Disc 3: DVD featuring live footage, backstage footage and interviews) in 5.1 sound, and Collectors Edition which features signed 7” vinyl & CD.

The full look at the new release will be online on the 15th (00:01am 15/02/2010 UK time), for the first impressions of this album be the first to check out the review and leave your comments…

Metal Blade Sign Dawn Of Ashes

January 22, 2010

Metal Blade Records signs Dawn Of Ashes; prepares to unleash full-length album

‘Genocide Chapters’

DAWN OF ASHES teams up with special FX group ADI (Amalgamated Dynamics Inc) for outfit and mask designs!

Metal Blade Records is pleased to announce it has inked a deal with the Los Angeles horror inspired black/death metal band Dawn Of Ashes. Dawn Of Ashes is a band whose passion for intense and macabre imagery, music, and live performances will soon be seen by the metal masses when Genocide Chapters is unleashed in late spring/summer 2010. The band is currently gearing up to enter the studio to record their Metal Blade debut with producer Fred Archambault, known for his work with Avenged Sevenfold, Death By Stereo, Eighteen Visions, and many more. Handling the cover art for Genocide Chapters is Machine-Room (My Dying Bride).

Dawn Of Ashes has enlisted the help of acclaimed special FX group ADI (Amalgamated Dynamics Inc.) to discuss plans for the new DOA outfits and mask designs. ADI is the special effects company that created the creatures and special effects for movies like: Alien 3, Alien Resurrection, Alien vs. Predator 1 and Requiem, Star Ship Troopers, Tremors and other films. This was amazing news for the band and should make DOA’s theatrical look even more interesting and grotesque.

“We are very honored to become a part of such a legendary Metal label. We cannot wait to see what this will do for the progression of the band’s career. This is a new level for Dawn Of Ashes and we are very excited to become part of the Metal Blade family” comments Dawn Of Ashes.

BIO:
Every nightmare is painted by a vision that is so terrifying and disturbing that only the imagination of pure violence can give a new form to eternal damnation. Dawn Of Ashes gave meaning to this in the year of 2001 by Kristof Bathory, the mastermind behind the sounds and visions of horror, hatred, and suffering. The name was created to reflect upon the birth of death and failure.

In 2005, DOA independently released their first demo entitled ‘Sacred Fever’. This release caught the eyes and ears of the German label Noi Tekk and shortly after DOA were asked to sign to the label. A few months later, the U.S. label COP International, as well as Russian label Gravitor, took notice to DOA and asked them to join their rosters them as well.

In September of 2006, their debut album entitled ‘In the Acts of Violence’ was unleashed upon the world. The brutal debut captivated the dark hearts and minds of many. It was at this point that DOA began to grow a significant fan base, which set the band on its path to success.

In October of 2007, DOA released their second full length album entitled ‘The Crypt Injection’. The album displayed much growth and transformation in DOA’s dark sound and substance. Along with the studio album, DOA also created a music video for their song “Torture Device”, which set much anticipation for the album’s long awaited release. ‘The Crypt Injection’ aided in DOA gathering more fans, publicity, and attention from the masses.

Since DOA was formed, the band has made transitions in line-ups and sound to create their ideal artistic outlet. DOA did so by adding additional members and placing the element of live guitars and drums into the music, taking the group from the Industrial scene into the Metal scene. With DOA’snew, solid line-up, the next installment from DOA will summon new sights and sounds among the world with a Black/Melodic Death Metal sound. It is now time for Dawn Of Ashes to enhance the brutality, so be prepared for more to come as the ashes will never rest upon the weak; the evil within this group will never die!

So there you go, another (admittedly cut down apologies for the previously unedited version) press release, the usual stuff about how this band is heavier than ever blah blah…(I did cut out the bit out the new Six Feet Under album see my review for reasons why) but anyway, take it or leave it MB have a habit of signing any band that bothers to send them a demo and as such regularly pump out a large amount of generic crap..however never judge a book (or album for that matter) by its cover you never know this could be the next best thing…(emphasis there on the word could) but anyhow. That’s all till…well my next post I guess..
